Multi Cyclone Water Filter

A water filtration device that is capable of saving water and unlike a sand filter, has no internal filter medium where bacteria can potentially breed up. The system works on the basis of centrifugal water filtration. There are no moving parts to wear out and no filter media to clean or replace.

  1. Incoming water enters 16 hydro cyclones tangentially, generating a strong centrifugal effect.
  2. The sediment is spun out to the hydro cyclone’s wall, and then spirals down to the sediment bowl.
  3. The filtered water migrates towards the centre of the hydro cyclone where the flow reverses and spirals upwards through the outlet.
  4. Accumulation of sediment can be visibly monitored in sediment catchment bowl.
  5. The unit is easily cleaned by simply opening the drain valve.

Only 15 litres of water is discharged to cleanse this water filter, which is considerably less than the volume required to back flush a sand filter. This can typically save up to 7,000 litres of water per year, plus hours of time and effort.

The flushing operation is simply carried out manually using the supplied drain valve. This operation can also be automated using a timer and solenoid valve (not included).

The water flow rate through the Cyclone filter is not reduced as sediment is collected in the clear poly carbonate sediment bowl at the base of the unit. Best of all, unlike most other filters the multi cyclone will never reduce or block the water flow, even when the sediment catchment bowl is full.

Minimum water flow rate 50 litres per minute. Maximum water flow rate 500 litres per minute. Maximum pressure 400 kPa (58 psi).

When used in a Black Max Ozone System, for best results the recommended minimum water flow rate is approximately 150 litres per minute.
Laboratory tests revealed that the Multi Cyclone is effective in filtering particles sized 20-30 microns and upwards.
