Black Max Ozone Systems – MultiCyclone Water Filters
A MultiCyclone centrifugal water filter has no internal filter medium to clean or replace, unlike a sand filter or cartridge filter, saving you time and money. Also having no internal filter medium eliminates the main area where bacteria usually breeds up in other types of water filters. The MultiCyclone16 water filter has 16 internal tangential hydro cyclones to clean the water as it passes through the unit, but there are no moving parts to wear out. This filter can actually save thousands of litres water compared to other filtration systems, because it only requires 15 litres of water to flush out the integrated sediment bowl.
- Within a MCWF16 the incoming water enters trough 16 hydro cyclones tangentially, generating a strong centrifugal effect.
- The sediment is spun out to the hydro cyclone’s wall, and then spirals down to the sediment bowl.
- The filtered water migrates towards the centre of the hydro cyclone, where the flow reverses and spirals upwards through the outlet.
- The accumulation of sediment can be visibly monitored in the sediment catchment bowl.
- The unit is easily cleaned by simply opening the drain valve.
Only 15 litres of water is discharged to cleanse this water filter, which is considerably less than the volume required to back flush a sand filter. This can typically save up to 7,000 litres of water per year, plus hours of time and effort.
The flushing operation of the MultiCyclone water filter can also be fully automated by installing a timer and solenoid valve (not included), to automatically flush out the sediment catchment bowl at any chosen intervals.
The water flow rate through the MultiCyclone filter is not reduced as sediment is collected in the clear poly carbonate sediment bowl at the base of the unit. Best of all, unlike most other filters the MultiCyclone16 will never reduce or block the water flow, even when the sediment catchment bowl is full.

Laboratory tests have proven that MultiCyclone water filters are effective in filtering out particles sized 20-30 microns and upwards. For best results we recommend incorporating a MultiCyclone16 water filter into all Black Max ozone systems, as these unique filters help to keep the water much cleaner. These two Black Max ozone systems have a BM2W ozone generator, a Megazone injector manifold, and a MultiCyclone16 water filter.
Note that in both ozone systems the optional mounting stand has been installed to conveniently support the MultiCyclone unit.
The low maintenance MultiCyclone water filter has no filter medium to clean or replace, and is easily backflushed by simply opening the drain valve.
This backflushing process can be fully automated with the installation of a solenoid valve and timer to regularly drain the sediment bowl.
